International Event in Serbia, Belgrade


At the end of 2015 Karate Sport England funded a small squad to attend an International Competition in Serbia. Several UKA members went on the trip.

Charlie Collins took Gold in the heavy weight section and Liam Powell and Luke Cuthbert 1st and 2nd respectively, in the middleweight event. The team took 2nd place losing to Italy in the final.

Lowestoft Kenshin Open 2016


UKA were yet again part of a strong Karate Sport England squad that have been busy leading up to the summer break.

A small squad travelled to Lowestoft for the Kenshin Open and coaches UKA had a successful day with golds from Stan Pyke, Archie Spall, Chris Ashwell, Zoe Thorndycraft, Alice Briner, Shauna Carroll and others culminating in a team gold for Charlie Collins, James eade and Rob Camp.

Some UKA members attended the recent WUKF World championships in Dublin with some success notably Bobby Grafton winning the Male Under 21 kumite and Thomas mulhall silver in the boys kumite. Well done to Julia Heenan for those achievements.

Mens Team Gold: Jason, James, Liam Meenhaz and Charlie

The mens squad was invited to Portugal to take part in an International WKF event. Our hosts looked after the squad generously and coach Ian Cuthbert along with KSE coach Dave Phillips were rewarded with medals from Charlie Collins, Jason Marquis and Adam Carrigan-Smith. The five man team consisting of Charlie Collins, Jason Marquis, James Eade, Meenhaz Janar and Adam Carrigan-Smith then went onto win the International team event beating Italy 5-0 and hosts Portugal 3-1.

Welsh Open Event 2016

Squad: 7 Gold, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals

The UKA again attended the Welsh Open event in Merthyr Tydfil and were rewarded with a huge medal haul.

Golds - Adam Cunik (2), Archie Spall, Connie Antoshko and Boys team (Adam Lewis and *Connie Antoshko??) *The only girl in the boys team event !!

Silvers - Lana Cuthbert, George Antoshko, Archie Spall and Connie Antoshko
